Manchester United's proposal to offer share options to players could help attract the biggest stars to Old Trafford, according to a leading football analyst.

Traditionally United have been unwilling to go into debt to pay the top transfer fees and wages for the world's best players. This has repeatedly left manager Alex Ferguson frustrated in his attempts to sign the likes of Gabriel Batistuta. As a partial solution to this problem United are considering offering players shares in the club.
