Schools Rugby Leinster Junior CupTerenure College 17 Newbridge College 12 Two tries in the second half at Barnhall were enough to put Terenure College into the next round. But they were forced to defend in depth in the closing stages as Newbridge battled gamely for a late win.

Terenure scrumhalf Richie O'Neill broke from a ruck for the opening score, but Newbridge dominated the second quarter and went to the dressing-room level on 5-5 after their pressure was rewarded with a try by lock Jason Harney.

Eight minutes after the restart Dara Byrne touched down in the corner for Terenure, and he was followed in for a try by Terry Jones with number eight Shane McCann making the all-important final pass.

Terenure then defended for most of the remaining 15 minutes.
