While there was a representative from the Irish Sports Council at Sunday's meeting in Dublin when the Irish Amateur Swimming Association was dissolved and a new Swim Ireland body voted into existence, there will be no Government comment until a full report is received from the new association.

According to the office of the Minister for Tourism and Sport, Dr Jim McDaid, there will be no comment on how the meeting was conducted or the allegations that were made but they will be looking at the new structures which are now in place. It will, however take some time before that report can be compiled.

"While clearly some progress was made yesterday (Sunday) the Minister will have to wait for a full report from the new executive body which was formed. The Minister's prime concern, as outlined in the open letter to delegates, was for the creation of a safe and secure environment and to put in place measures to protect young people in swimming."
