Stylish Charleville

Charleville ladies finished off the season in style when winning the Duhallow Shield, involving the six north Cork clubs. Charleville easily came through from their group to the final while Mallow emerged after a play-off. Then Charleville won by 3 1/2-1 1/2 to claim their first victory in the competition since 1992. Newcomers to the game Bridie Howard, mother and daughter Brid and Ber Clarson, Fiona Hayes, Noreen Bluett, Karin Heffernan and Mary Lapthorne combined well with the experienced Peggy O'Donnell, Teresa Flynn, Helen Power, Liz Leonard, Mary Madigan and Noran Nelligan to form a winning combination. The winning team was managed by Mary Maher and Alice South.
