St Patrick's Athletic 5 Bray Wanderers 1: St Patrick's made it three wins from three in the league to set themselves up nicely for next week's FAI Cup semi-final clash with Shamrock Rovers.
Whatever hopes Bray harboured of a repeat of last week's win over title-chasing Cork City were soon dispelled with St Patrick's giving their defence a torrid time.
The home team finally made the breakthrough on 19 minutes as defender Stephen Quigley intercepted a cross from Andrei Georgescu to set up a quick counter attack seeing Paul Keegan release Seán O'Connor out wide. And a mistake by Bray full back Ronan Ivory saw O'Connor square to Anto Murphy who converted past Chris O'Connor.
Bray's defensive shortcomings were exposed once more on the half hour. A rash challenge from Ivory on O'Connor presented Bray with a free on the left and, when Michael Foley sent the ball over, an unattended Trevor Molloy nonchalantly side-footed home from 18 yards.
Bray were back in the game when a through ball from David Tyrell caught St Patrick's napping at the back and Georgescu went clear to slot the ball home from an acute angle.
Things went downhill for Bray when O'Connor failed to deal with a cross from Quigley with Murphy stealing in to head past the hapless goalkeeper.
And it went from bad to worse for Bray when Mark Quigley, with virtually his first touch of the game, found the back of the net with an exquisite lob with 17 minutes to go.
Finally, Bray defender Michael Roche, under pressure from Quigley, turned the ball past his own goalkeeper.
