Sunderland confirm Quinn takeover talks

Sunderland have confirmed they are in discussions with a consortium of private investors led by former Republic of Ireland striker Niall Quinn regarding a possible takeover.

Chairman and majority shareholder Bob Murray confirmed at the end of last month he would be happy to sell the club if the right offer came along.

Zeus Capital have been appointed as independent financial adviser to represent the interests of all shareholders.

Quinn is a former Sunderland player.
