Real Madrid got within touching distance of an amazing comeback victory over Real Zaragoza before tumbling out of the Copa del Rey semi-finals 6-5 on aggregate.

There looked to be little hope of Real reaching the final after being thumped 6-1 in the first leg at La Romareda last week.

But Real coach Juan Ramon Lopez Caro had insisted after the first match that the tie was not yet done and dusted, and his star-studded team proved that last night, winning the second leg 4-0 at the Bernabeu.

Real could hardly have asked for a better start, scoring three times in the opening 10 minutes through Brazilian trio Cicinho, Robinho and Ronaldo.

But they could only add one more goal in the remaining time - through Roberto Carlos in the 60th minute - to fall just short.
