Cork City have reached agreement with Ipswich Town over the signing of George O'Callaghan, for an undisclosed fee.

O'Callaghan had been on loan with the English Championship side for the past few months after falling out with Cork City manager Damien Richardson last Summer.

Stephen Kenny's Dunfermline Athletic were also believed to have been interested in the versatile midfielder.

O'Callaghan joined Cork City from Port Vale in 2002.

He played a part in the club's title success and was named Eircom's League's best player at the 2005 Eircom International Soccer Awards.
