Argentina legend Diego Maradona paid a visit to Manchester United's Carrington training ground this morning as part of a whistle-stop tour of the north-west as he takes the first steps in his role as national team coach.

Maradona was the surprise recent appointment as Argentina boss but has already identified United striker Carlos Tevez and Liverpool midfielder Javier Mascherano as key men in his revolution, which begins with a friendly against Scotland at Hampden Park on November 19th.

It is expected Maradona will meet both players, plus their respective managers Alex Ferguson and Rafael Benitez, having already visited Real Madrid's Argentinian stars this week.

The arrival of Maradona in Manchester will no doubt delight Ferguson, who spoke warmly of the former forward's talents last week.

However, the United manager's biggest concern ahead of tomorrow's meeting with Arsenal will be to reassure Tevez of his Old Trafford future.

The former West Ham player has been consigned to a bit-part role in United's season so far and looked distinctly unimpressed when he was replaced by Wayne Rooney in the Champions League draw at Celtic on Wednesday.
