Lennon hoping to extend Celtic contract

Celtic skipper Neil Lennon hopes to remain at the club for at least another season

Celtic skipper Neil Lennon hopes to remain at the club for at least another season. Lennon, 34, expects to open contract talks with clubs bosses towards the end of the current campaign.

The former Leicester midfielder had spoken of his desire to return to the Premiership before his football career comes to an end. But he is enjoying life at Celtic so much  - they are 13 points clear at the top of the Bank of Scotland Premier League - that he wants to stay at Parkhead.

He told the Celtic View: "The situation’s very similar to the one I was in at the end of last season and I‘m pretty relaxed about it all. I‘m not putting the club under any pressure and vice versa.

"That said, we‘ll no doubt sit down and talk about it nearer the end of the season and I obviously hope there will be a desire there to keep me. I‘m loving it at the minute, that‘s for sure.
