Tottenham have agreed to sell Republic of Ireland right-back Stephen Kelly to Birmingham City.
Kelly, who made his international debut against Chile earlier this year, will hold talks about personal terms with the Coca-Cola Championship club over the weekend after failing to hold down a first-team place at White Hart Lane last season.
The Dublin-born defender signed a new one-year contract at Spurs last month but competition for the right-back berth from Canadian international Paul Stalteri last season saw him make just 10 appearances and he looks set to move to St Andrews.
In related news, Tottenham announced today that they have signed left-back Benoit Assou-Ekotto from Lens, subject to a medical.
The 22-year-old defender played in 34 of 38 league games as Lens
finished fourth in the French first division last season and Spurs sporing director Damien Comolli believes that Assou-Ekotto will give the team more options.
"He's versatile and can play in three positions — left-back, on the left side of central midfield and left midfield. He will give Martin (Jol, manager) lots of flexibility on that flank," said Comolli.
"The player is ambitious and has always wanted to play in English football.
"He was consistent in his commitment to us in the negotiations we had with Lens despite a lot of interest from other clubs and Lens being reluctant to let him go."
