Sheffield United's Irish duo of Derek Geary and Alan Quinn have both signed one-year contract extensions with the Coca-Cola Championship club.

The extensions for the Republic of Ireland pair mean they are now set to stay at Bramall Lane until 2010.

Midfielder Quinn told the club's official website, www.sufc.co.uk: "I went in to see the gaffer (Bryan Robson) to see where I stood and I am thrilled that he wants me to be part of things here.

"I'm now looking forward to the start of the season and I'm ready to fight for my first-team place."
