Michael Essien and Sulley Muntari combined twice to great effect as Ghana beat Morocco 2-0 to top Group A and reach the African Nations Cup quarter-finals.

Essien opened the scoring in the 26th minute when he latched on to Muntari's clever chip over the wall and volleyed home.

Essien then turned provider when he burst through the midfield and drove at the Moroccan defence before laying it off to Muntari who squeezed his finish in at the near post.

It means the host nation garnered nine points from three matches and will stay in Accra for their quarter-final on Sunday. They will know the identity of their opponents on completion of Group B tomorrow.
