Soccer:Ian Foster will tonight be unveiled as the new Dundalk manager after leaving his role with Galway United against the wishes of his former club.

Nick Leeson, Galway chief executive, confirmed on local radio that Foster and Dundalk had asked the club permission to speak with each other but Galway refused.

It’s a similar story for Galway, who had Jeff Kenna walk out on them in January to take up a new post with St Patrick’s Athletic, a position Kenna has since resigned from.

Foster still had one year left to run on his contract at Terryland Park.

Dundalk will officially unveil Foster at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, Dundalk from 8pm this evening.
