Derry's Hynes cleared by Fifa

Peter Hynes was today cleared to play for Derry City after Fifa granted an exemption from Article 5.3 of the Regulations for the Status and Transfer of Players.

Today's news is fresh off the back of Cork City being denied the chance to play Colin Healy and Gareth Farrelly until July 1st as they have already played for two other clubs in the last 12 months.

Healy played for Barnsley and Bradford before returning to Cork while Farrelly joined Cork from Blackpool, where had signed a short-term deal after leaving Bohemians.

The total number eircom League players granted exemptions by Fifa is now eight. The governing body judge cases on an individual basis but Fifa have asked the Fai to send a submission to establish a long-term solution to the matter.

4. Sean Holmes (Finn Harps)

8. Gary Rogers (Galway United)
