Transfer news: Roque Santa Cruz has completed his €20.7 million move to Manchester City. The Paraguayan passed a medical with the Eastlands outfit this afternoon and has now signed a deal to link up once more with Mark Hughes.
Hughes previously worked with Santa Cruz when he was the manager at Blackburn.
Hughes has never made any secret of his desire to have Santa Cruz at City and having assured themselves the knee injury that kept the South American out at the end of last season has fully cleared up, the Blues have completed the signing of the striker.
Liverpool are set to sign England right-back Glen Johnson after confirming this evening they have reached an agreement with both the player and his club Portsmouth.
The Reds have been linked with the defender for a number of weeks while Pompey executive chairman Peter Storrie claimed last week Johnson’s former club Chelsea were willing to pay €21.2 million for the 24-year-old.
And a statement from the club tonight said: “Liverpool FC confirmed this evening that they had reached an agreement with Portsmouth Football Club and with Glen Johnson for the transfer of the player to Anfield.”
