It is understood the 23-year-old put pen to paper following a medical on Wearside this morning after the Black Cats reportedly agreed a fee of £5million with Cardiff.

The former Newcastle striker becomes Roy Keane's third summer signing after the capture of Greg Halford and Russell Anderson.
