Bohemians 1 Waterford United 0:  Bohemians leapfrogged Shamrock Rovers - whom they meet this weekend - into third place in the Premier Division table after a narrow win over struggling Waterford.

Striker Darren Mansaram was the home side's tormentor in chief, causing endless headaches for the visiting defence.  Still, Waterford were unlucky not to salvage something from the game.

It was fitting, too, that Mansaram, the former Sligo Rovers frontman, scored the all important goal.  He acrobatically volleyed Des Byrne's cross past Dean Delaney on the stroke of half-time.

Shane Harte's first-half header for the visitors went narrowly wide while Vinny Sullivan should have done better when Harte threaded a superb ball through in a promising position.

Thomas Heary could have put the result beyond doubt on the hour mark but his close range shot was superbly saved by Delaney.

Delaney was again at his brilliant best in injury time, twice denying Fergal Harkin with two smart saves in quick succession.

Bohemians are now just four points behind league leaders St Patrick's Athletic.
