Soccer: Sergio Aguero does not want to compare Manchester City to European champions Barcelona.

Roberto Mancini's men have been earning praise for their revitalised style of play and, on Saturday, Wigan were swept aside 3-0 at the Etihad Stadium.

Aguero scored a brilliant hat-trick in the win over the Latics and combined superbly with team-mates David Silva, Carlos Tevez, who started and had a penalty saved, and Samir Nasri.

City's free-flowing win over Wigan drew post-match comparisons to Pep Guardiola's Barcelona, but Aguero does not want to get carried away.

He said in The Sun: "Barcelona are a team that have played together for a lot of years in the same style and they have great players, but we also have good players with ability on the ball.

"Nasri and myself have only come to City this season, but there are players, like David Silva, who were here before who have a similar style and way of thinking which allows us to keep the ball, to try to dominate possession.

"It's so important in modern football to have the ability to be comfortable and have quality on the ball and we have it.

"We move it quickly and that's vital, but we're not thinking about Barcelona. We're thinking about ourselves really and trying to develop our own style of play with our own players and do the things Roberto Mancini wants us to do. And we are feeling good because we're creating a lot of chances and scoring a lot of goals in our own style and it's one we want to develop, to improve."
