A depleted Sligo Rovers had to battle past robust Leinster Senior League side Greystones to claim their place in the last 16 of the FAI Cup at the Carlisle Grounds yesterday.

In the absence of five injured strikers, manager Don O'Riordan was forced to push midfielder Rafael Cretaro into a more advanced role, and it was the makeshift forward who netted the only goal of the game when he capitalised on a defensive error four minutes before half-time. Greystones nearly nicked a replay when a powerful Tobin header had to be cleared off the line by Gareth Gorman late in the second half.
