US Tour:Australian Adam Scott was closing on victory in the Shell Houston Open at Redstone GC Tournament Course Humble, Texas yesterday.

Scott was 17-under-par after 16 holes and two clear fellow countryman Stewart Appleby with Americans Tommy Armour and Bubba Watson sharing third place on 13-under-par.

Padriag Harrington finished on seven-under-par 281 after a mixed final round of level-par 72.

Out in two-under-par 34 with birdies at the third and sixth, harrington went to thee under for the day after 12 holes. However, in a poor finish he dropped shots at the 13th, 15th and 18th in a back-nine of 38.

CHAMPIONS TOUR: Keith Fergus survived several late stumbles and held on to win the Ginn Championship Hammock Beach Resort yesterday to become the second man to win on the PGA TOUR, Champions Tour and Nationwide Tour.

Fergus shot a 70 to win the Champions Tour event by a shot over Mark O'Meara and Hale Irwin despite bogeying two of the last three holes at the Ocean Club at Hammock Beach.

Fergus secured the victory by making a seven-foot par putt at the par-three 17th hole. He then two-putted from 13 feet for bogey at the par-four 18th to finish at 12-under-204. O'Meara (69) and Irwin (68) tied at 11 under.

The victory for Fergus was his first as a professional since the 1994 Nationwide Tour's Boise Open.
