SUNSHINE TOUR: Justin Rose's bid to clinch the Sunshine Tour's order of merit crown suffered a setback yesterday when he slipped to a second-round 74 in stifling heat at the Tour Championship at Leopard Creek Country Club.

The Englishman shares 20th place at one-under-par 143 - and six shots behind money-list leader Tim Clark of South Africa, whose 68 put him in a tie for third at the halfway stage. American Bruce Vaughan leads at nine-under 135 following scores of 67 and 68. South African Nicholas Lawrence lies second, one stroke back.

The winner of the money list title is guaranteed an invite to the British Open at Muirfield and to the World Golf Championship (WGC) American Express Championship at Mount Juliet. The winner of the Tour Championship will earn a place in the 2002 WGC-NEC Invitational.
