Torrential rain brought a temporary stop to proceedings at the under-16 and under-18 interprovincial tournament in Bangor yesterday, but, when play resumed after 90 minutes, hosts Ulster strengthened their hopes of taking the two titles.
Leinster, though, remain in contention in both sections with Munster and South East not yet out of the running in the under18 and under-16 competitions, respectively.
A Susie Martin hat-trick helped the Ulster under-18s on their way to a 7-0 victory over Connacht before Anna Coppell salvaged a draw for the holders against Munster in the final game of the day, when goalkeepers Leanne Forsyth (Ulster) and Breda Lynch (Munster) were outstanding.
Those four points leave Ulster top of the table on goal difference ahead of Leinster, who beat South East and drew with Munster.
The provinces meet in the opening game of today's schedule - a draw should suffice for Ulster although substantial wins in their games against South East and Connacht could see Munster take the title.
In the under-16 event, Ulster and Leinster won both their games but Ulster are six better off on goal difference, thanks to their 6-0 win over Munster.
The teams meet in the final under-16 game today - again, a draw should be enough for Ulster, providing they can beat third-placed South East later in the day.
