Bengals end Patriots’ perfect start and Brady’s streak

New England quarterback fails to throw touchdown pass for first time since 2009

The Cincinnati Bengals ended New England's unbeaten start to the season and Tom Brady's run of 52 games with a touchdown pass as they beat the Patriots 13-6 in Sunday NFL action.

BenJarvus Green-Ellis scored the game’s only touchdown with a one-yard run in the fourth quarter, before Adam Jones intercepted Brady inside the five-yard line with 16 seconds left.

It was the first game without a touchdown for New England since September 20, 2009 – a 16-9 loss to the New York Jets.

The Kansas City Chiefs kept their perfect start alive but made hard work of it in a 26-17 victory over the Tennessee Titans.

Jamaal Charles scored a one-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter to clinch it after the Chiefs had seen a 13-0 half-time lead evaporate in the face of 17 unanswered points from the Titans.

However, the Seattle Seahawks joined New England in suffering a first loss of the season as they blew a 12-0 lead to lose 34-28 to the Indianapolis Colts.

Donald Brown scored the go-ahead touchdown with 8:55 remaining, while Andrew Luck threw for two touchdowns.

Drew Brees threw two touchdown passes to help keep New Orleans' perfect start going with a 26-18 victory over the Chicago Bears.

Both of those passes went to Pierre Thomas, while Jimmy Graham tied an NFL record with a fourth consecutive 100-yard game for a tight end, making 10 catches for 135 yards.

The St Louis Rams needed to get out of a rut and a visit from the winless Jacksonville Jaguars did the trick as Sam Bradford threw three touchdown passes in a 34-20 victory.

Austin Pettis had two touchdown catches as the Rams picked up their second win of the season.

The Green Bay Packers beat the Detroit Lions 22-9 as Mason Crosby kicked five field goals, while Justin Tucker's 44-yard field goal made the difference as the Baltimore Ravens edged the Miami Dolphins 26-23.

The New York Giants' winless start to the season continued as the Philadelphia Eagles overcame the loss of Michael Vick to injury to beat them 36-21 in East Rutherford.

Nick Foles had two fourth-quarter touchdown passes after Vick left the game with a hamstring injury in the second quarter.

Eli Manning was intercepted three times in the fourth quarter as Philadelphia shut down any attempt at a New York fightback.

Payton Manning threw for 414 yards and four touchdowns as the Denver Broncos edged the Dallas Cowboys 51-48 in a high-scoring affair.

Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo was also in fine form as he launched five touchdown passes for 506 yards in the first 500-yard passing game in franchise history.

But the glory went to Matt Prater who kicked a 28-yard field goal as the clock ran down to seal the win and maintain Denver’s perfect start to the season.

The Arizona Cardinals easily overcame a sluggish Carolina offence as they claimed a 22-6 win.

The Panthers could only manage two field goals as Carson Palmer threw to Jim Dray for a single Cards touchdown with Rashard Mendenhall also scoring on a drive.

Matt Schaub was intercepted three times as the Houston Texans offence failed to fire in a 34-3 defeat to the San Francisco 49ers.

Tremaine Brock returned one of those interceptions for a score while Frank Gore, Anthony Dixon and Vernon Davis also scored touchdowns as San Francisco claimed a third win of the season.

Two touchdown passes in the first quarter from Terrelle Pryor and an NFL record-tying 13th defensive touchdown from Charles Woodson helped the Oakland Raiders beat San Diego Chargers 27-17.
