Linda O'Gorman (23) has capped off her tremendous season by being named Golfer of the Year at Elm Park last Saturday night at Betty Curneen's Lady Captain's Dinner.

Although she really only started playing golf last year, Linda didn't take long in reducing her handicap. She began the season last June playing off 32, but week by week she began to lose shots and by the end of August she was playing off 18, an incredible drop of 14 shots.

But it should be no surprise that Linda was starting to make great strides in golf as there is a strong golfing tradition in her family. Linda's mother, Ethel - who plays off 17 - continues to encourage her daughter. Linda's brother John plays off 14 and her late father Denis was a single handicapper and a prominent member of Elm Park.
