Cork City 2 Longford Town 0:Roy O'Donovan was once again the star of the show for Cork City as they killed off the Longford Town challenge with two goals in the opening 20 minutes.
Cork were always in control once they jumped in front after just nine minutes. Joe Gamble's cross from the right flew over the heads of Longford's two centre-backs and O'Donovan was unmarked at the far post to volley a superb shot past goalkeeper Shay Kelly.
O'Donovan added the second with another lovely strike in the 20th minute. Twice Gamble and O'Donovan traded passes before O'Donovan chipped a beautiful shot over goalkeeper Kelly and into the far corner of the net from 20 yards.
