Eoin O'Connor leads the Irish PGA Championship after making the most of the favourable conditions as he completed his first round at The European Club this morning.

O'Connor and a number of other players were forced to postpone completing their rounds yesterday due to the weather.

The Kilkenny golfer completed his round in a level par 71 this morning to take a one shot lead over another late finisher Michael Collins of Mallow Golf Range.

Philip Walton and England's Robert Giles are two-over-par, while Eamonn Brady and David Mortimer are three over.

Tournament favourite Padraig Harrington is level with Eamon Darcy on four over and will begin his second round shortly after 5pm today.

The second round tee times were delayed by three hours, with the first players due out at 11.30am.
