Colleges GAA Munster SHC and Leinster SFC: St Flannan's of Ennis, Thurles CBS and Midleton CBS all earned their places in the Dr Harty Cup yesterday after victories over Coláiste na nDeise, Charleville and Our Lady's, Templemore, respectively. However, St Colman's, Fermoy, and Nenagh CBS will have to play again after drawing.

A goal from Conor Nealon 17 minutes into the second half gave St Flannan's the impetus to achieve a 1-14 to 0-10 victory over the amalgamation of Waterford schools in Cashel.

Thurles CBS beat Charleville by 1-17 to 0-9 at Claughaun with substitute John O'Neill scoring the goal in the third quarter, to effectively end the game as a contest as it gave his side a 1-15 to 0-8 lead.

Captain Paudie O'Sullivan impressed for Midleton in their 2-13 to 2-8 win over Our Lady's Templemore in Kildorrery.

Joe Lupton and Cathal Scully of Our Lady's scored goals but the accurate free-taking of O'Sullivan ensured Thurles kept in the game before Robert White and Finbarr Day goaled to book a semi-final place against Thurles.

St Colman's staged a strong second-half comeback at New Inn to earn a rematch with Nenagh CBS, the sides finished 0-13 to 2-7. St Colman's trailed 2-3 to 0-7 at the break after Nenagh CBS netted in the 13th and 28th minutes through David Gleeson and Paddy Murphy.

St Mary's, Mullingar, had a 2-13 to 0-4 victory over Franciscan, Gormanston, in the third round of the Leinster Colleges senior football A qualifier at Cusack Park yesterday.

The home side had the tonic of a second-minute goal from Eanna Doolin which set them on their way to a 1-5 to 0-1 lead at half-time.The Mullingar side continued to pick off the points in the second half and Eoin Price scored his side's second goal in the 58th minute.
