Schools' Rugby Munster Senior Cup: St Munchin's College - 23 Ard Scoil Ris - 18 A magnificent 18-point haul from outhalf Wayne Murphy inspired St Munchin's College to victory over a fancied Ard Scoil Rís side in this quarter-final at Thomond Park yesterday.
Murphy contributed a try, two penalties, a drop goal and two conversions. St Munchin's led 17-3 at the break, thanks to Murphy's opportunist try and an intercept try from David Gardiner.
Ard Scoil Rís's Brian Walpole scored a try on 38 minutes and a Conan Doyle penalty left six points between the sides. Murphy settled St Munchin's nerves with a penalty goal and drop goal. Ard Scoil Rís were awarded a late penalty try.
