Moyne CS, Longford ... 17 Enniscorthy CBS ... 15: Longford side Moyne CS became the first holders of the Leinster Schools' Senior Development cup when they defeated Enniscorthy CBS at Portarlington yesterday.

Despite the bitterly cold conditions both sides produced some very entertaining rugby. Moyne looked in trouble at half-time when they only led 9-5 after playing with the strong wind. Gerry McGlade scored their points with three converted penalties.

Against the run of play Enniscorthy scored a try when Paul Crean went over midway through the half.

Two minutes into the second half, the Wexford school took the lead for the first time when Crean crossed in the corner. But the fitter and faster Longford side responded and their pressure was rewarded in the 16th minute when Conor McGlade, their outstanding captain, went over for a try and then his brother Gerry landed a penalty.

It looked all over at this stage, but with three minutes remaining, Peter Breen gave the Wexford side a lifeline when he scored his side's third try. However, there was heartbreak for the Wexford side when the conversion went badly wide.
