Abbeyleix's Larry Ryder and Ellie Robinson have achieved a feat that can't be beaten

Abbeyleix's Larry Ryder and Ellie Robinson have achieved a feat that can't be beaten. Larry and Ellie are the first winners of a competition played over the new Mel Flanagan-designed 18 holes at Abeyleix when both were successful in their respective President's prizes.

Larry, off as handicap of 12, overcame the a strong challenge from John Murphy to win the President's (A J Cole) prize two weeks ago and last weekend Ellie, playing off 26, returned a 74 to pip Catherine McLoughlin (19) who led for most of the day to take Lady President's (Jean Horan) Prize. The men are now looking forward to next weekend when the Captain's (Peter Rogers) prize is played over 36 holes on the full 18-hole course.
