CRICKET: Malahide, the holders, have been drawn away to either Cliftonville or Strabane in next year's first round of the Irish Senior Cup.

Malahide won the cup for the first time last August when they defeated Rush at Castle Avenue in what was the first all-Leinster final of the 20-year-old competition. Rush have gained a home tie in the first round, and will take on Limavady at Kenure on Saturday May 24th.

Meantime, NEAR FM 106 will broadcast live from Clontarf CC this evening next summer's draws for three of the Leinster Cricket Union's premier competitions. The draws (7.0 p.m.) are the first round of the Leinster Senior Cup, the Sections A and B draws of the Leinster Senior 50 Overs League, and the Alan Murray Cup.

The Irish Cricket Union's plans for the appointment of its first full-time chief executive are believed to be well advanced. The chosen CEO will be based in Dublin or Belfast.
