Golf:Ryder Cup winner Martin Kaymer's name has been added to the list of Europeans joining the US Tour next season. The former world number one turned down the chance immediately after his victory at the 2010 USPGA Championship, but the PGA Tour has announced that the German will take up the exemption he earned with his play-off victory over Bubba Watson at Whistling Straits that week.
Swede Peter Hanson and Belgian Nicolas Colsaerts, two of Kaymer’s teammates in Chicago in September, are also taking up membership thanks to the money they earned in PGA Tour events this year, as is England’s David Lynn following his runner-up finish at the USPGA Championship in August.
All four will split their time between the American and European circuits in 2013, as will world top two Rory McIlroy and Luke Donald and Lee Westwood, Justin Rose, Graeme McDowell, Ian Poulter, Padraig Harrington, Sergio Garcia and Henrik Stenson. There could be more after next week’s qualifying school in California. Among those involved there are England’s Ross Fisher and Oliver Fisher — no relation — Frenchman Romain Wattel and Swedish duo Robert Karlsson and Alex Noren.
Noren and Wattel have both flown to Dubai for the #6million DP World Tour Championship before returning to the States, but Ross Fisher pulled out of the European Tour season-ending event. Oliver Fisher and Karlsson did not qualify. There are only two of Europe’s side at Medinah who will not have PGA Tour cards next season. They are Scot Paul Lawrie and Italian Francesco Molinari.
