Women's football: Monaghan's Donaghmoyne created history yesterday when they beat Tyrone side Carrickmore in the Ulster ladies senior football championship final at Fintona, 1-14 to 2-3. They became the first ever Ulster ladies football club to win three successive senior provincial crowns.
It was also a special day for Brenda McAnespie as she guided Monaghan's Emyvale to the Ulster ladies junior football championship title with a win over Armagh's Lissummon, 5-6 to 0-2, at Fintona. Bernie not only scored 2-2 but she also had the honour of playing alongside her two daughters, Ciara and Aoife.
Lisnaskea won the Ulster intermediate title with a 3-11 to 1-10 win over Crossmaglen. Mayo's Carnacon romped home to a comfortable Connacht ladies senior football championship final win over Roscommon's St Brigid's, 1-19 to 0-1.
