Galway 0-12 Sligo 0-3: Galway, seeking their fourth provincial title in a row, cruised to a facile victory over Sligo in this Connacht minor football championship quarter-final at Pearse Stadium, Galway, yesterday.
Having led at half-time in the abandoned game seven days earlier, Sligo this time found themselves four points adrift at the break, despite having played with the strong wind.
While the rain and wind may have hampered them the previous week, Galway were superior here; they played with great composure throughout, while Sligo, strangely, showed little or no cohesion and kicked 11 first-half wides.
By the 12th minute, Galway led 0-3 to 0-0 through Steven Kavanagh and two pointed Paul Conroy frees.
Sligo had to wait until the 24th minute for their opening score, a John Quinn pointed free, which turned out to be their only score of the half, while Galway finished the half with points from David Reilly and Steven Kavanagh to lead 0-5 to 0-1.
Galway's dominance continued through the second half, points from Paul Conroy, Eoin Concannon and Colmán O Maoilchiaráin extending their lead within 10 minutes of the restart.
Sligo substitute John Gordon got his side's solitary score from play after 43 minutes.
