Forward power proves the key for Templeogue

Templeogue College... 10 The High School..

Templeogue College ... 10 The High School ... 3: There was little separating these two sides as Templeogue College captured the Leinster Schools' Senior League for the first time at Templeville Road yesterday.

Both sides moved the ball wide well when given the opportunity and The High School opened their account from a David Thompson penalty on two minutes.

The Templeogue forwards began to show their hand with big, powerful props Kevin Carroll and Paul Collins taking the ball on around the fringes. They went in front when outhalf Brendan Healy found centre Darragh O'Kelly slicing through the middle for the first try and O'Kelly converted for a 7-3 lead.

In the 17th minute, Healy scored a drop goal and High School blindside then Ross Condron twice intervened, deep in his own 22, to stop Templeogue in their tracks. As it was, they took their 10-3 lead to the break.

Templeogue's cohesion in the maul was impressive, so much so, that they twice opted for lineouts when another penalty would have put them out of reach.
