Moate CS 1-11 Coláiste Eoin 1-8: Mark Ennis scored a crucial second-half goal as Moate CS overcame Coláiste Eoin in an exciting Leinster Colleges' SF A championship replay at Hogan Park yesterday.

The victory sees Moate clinch a place in the quarter-finals, while Coláiste Eoin still have a chance of progressing via the qualifiers.

The sides played out a thrilling draw at Silverpark last Friday and the first half of yesterday's replay was again tit-for-tat.

Moate's James Durkan was in form during the opening half, scoring four points, including two gems from sideline balls.

But with Coláiste Eoin number 15 Lúc Ceitinn excelling as playmaker, the visitors also carried plenty of threat and the sides were level, 0-6 each, at half-time.

Moate suffered a blow early in the second half when Coláiste Eoin midfielder Conchúr de Bharnabail punched Barra Ó Ruairc's free to the net.

Ó Ruairc produced a man-of-the-match display in the drawn game but yesterday was well marshalled by Lee Dunning.

Pól Schutte increased the Stillorgan side's lead as Moate came under strong pressure.

But the Westmeath school responded impressively and never looked back after Ennis struck for a terrific goal, which came after a well-worked move.

And despite kicking nine second-half wides, Moate secured victory in front of a large home crowd.
