There's nothing like turning on the style to win a golfer of the year title, which is exactly what Pat Doyle did to win that crown in the Squires Golf Society.

Not only did Doyle - a 15 handicapper - win their recent outing in Tulfarris to clinch the Golfer of the Year title, but he was also victorious in the society's previous outing which took place in Powerscourt a couple of weeks back. And it was those two wins in the last two outings which proved crucial to him ending the season as the society's most consistent performer.

At Tulfarris, Doyle - who is a club member in Mount Juliet - won with a 37 points total, while at Powerscourt in what was Mark Forde's Captain's Prize, he went one better, shooting 38 points to head the field.

Although Pat Doyle has won twice in succession with the Squires, he has yet to taste victory around his own club in Mount Juliet this season, although next month he is due to defend a team event tournament he won twelve months ago.
