Former East German swimmer Kristin Otto, winner of six Olympic gold medals, yesterday rejected rumours that her coach had prescribed her banned products.

"There is no question of any doping in my life - nobody is saying they gave me banned substances," Otto (34), told German television station NTV.

Her former coach Stefan Hetzer was fined $6,800 last April for administering an anabolic steroid, oralturinabol, to nine young swimmers. The nine included Otto, who dominated in the pool in the 1980s.

The Hetzer verdict was only made public a week ago and came with Otto preparing to work as a tv commentator at the Olympics.
