Rising star David Dennis will have the most important ride of his fledgling career tomorrow when he partners leading fancy Kingsmark in the Hennessy Cognac Gold Cup at Newbury.
The conditional rider, who rode his 18th winner of the season at Uttoxeter yesterday, has already tasted victory on the Martin Todhunter-trained gelding in the Edward Hanmer Memorial Chase at Haydock earlier this month.
And Dennis (21) is no stranger to success in this prestigious contest having led up his father Walter's Coome Hill when the gelding won the Hennessy in 1996.
Speaking at Uttoxeter, Dennis said: "I am very much looking forward to Saturday and very grateful to the connections. If Kingsmark runs up to his Haydock form he has got to have a leading chance."
Kingsmark, is the only one of four Robert Ogden-owned horses definitely confirmed so far for the £90,000 contest. Ogden also has Ad Hoc, Extra Jack and Marlborough in the race.
Officials at Haydock Park are hoping heavy rain stays away as they prepare for tomorrow's meeting.
