Kerry SFC Semi-finals: Dr Crokes and South Kerry will meet in a repeat of last year's county final on November 12th.
Yesterday, Dr Crokes beat Mid Kerry 3-8 to 1-9 at Austin Stack Park, Tralee, while South Kerry, champions for the last two years, had three points to spare over Kerins O'Rahillys, 0-11 to 0-8, at Fitzgerald Stadium, Killarney.
Crokes can thank Kerry stars Colm Cooper and Eoin Brosnan whose three first half goals proved decisive; the Gooch netting two of them, one a penalty.
Mid Kerry had closed to within a point following Seán O'Sullivan's goal before Brosnan sent Crokes in leading by five points, 3-4 to 1-5, at the interval. O'Sullivan later missed a penalty.
Leading by 0-4 to 0-3 after a scrappy first half, South Kerry introduced Maurice Fitzgerald as a substitute for the second period.
Despite not playing for his club all year Fitzgerald kept South Kerry on course for a glorious three-in-a-row with two magnificent points - but they did not shake off their Tralee opponents until the final 10 minutes of the match.
