Cescent 11-13 PBCOuthalf and captain Scott Deasy inspired PBC to victory in the semi-final of the Munster Schools Senior Cup at Dooradoyle yesterday.

It was a fortunate win for the Cork side who played second fiddle for most of an exciting game played in poor conditions.

However, they had the staying power that enabled them to snatch a seven-pointer a minute from the end of normal time that put them into yet another final against great Cork rivals CBC at Musgrave Park on March 19th.

Crescent had the superior pack, with secondrow Ken Hanley outstanding. They were without keyman and outhalf Andrew Burke although regular fullback Seán Scanlon was an outstanding replacement.

Crescent went in front on 11 minutes when number eight Darren Mulcair crashed over for a well-taken try before Scott Deasy cut the gap with a penalty midway through the half. Deasy again found the target with a penalty shortly after the interval but Crescent were quickly back on top and two fine drop goals by Scanlon pushed them 11-6 in front.

Pres finally clicked in the closing minutes and centre Barry Kelleher and prop Peter Kelleher were crucially involved in the move that led to a try in the 69th minute by winger Simon Zebo which Deasy converted.
