Gowran Park racecourse which is currently undergoing a £4 million re-development gave the public a chance preview of part of that development, its new 18 holes golf course on Saturday last. When completed, the course will be the largest track-side golf course in Ireland as the new course is located within and around the hugely popular Kilkenny track. The new course will comprise five holes within the Gowran Park racetrack and 13 more skirting the perimeter. The gently undulating course was designed by international course designer Jeff Howes, who has worked with Jack Nicklaus on the design and construction of the Mount Juliet course.

Surrounded by a wealth of mature trees, the five holes within the track will feature two lakes. The setting and design will result in challenging golf when opened next summer.
