A brilliant goal from Scott Morgan earned Galway a point to keep St. Patrick's Athletic rooted to the bottom of the Premier Division table in a riveting game at Terryland Park.

Morgan cut inside his marker after a fine flowing move to beat Trevor Wood with a rising shot into the top corner for a wonderful equaliser two minutes after the break.

That was just the tonic for the home crowd after a contentious penalty had given St Patrick's the lead on 38 minutes.

Robbie Griffin went tumbling in the box and Paul Byrne shot home the penalty. Galway ran St Patrick's ragged in the second-half and should have won the game but for a penalty miss on 64 minutes.
