Edinburgh - 17 Connacht - 32 Connacht resurrected their winning formula in Meadowbank last evening to jump ahead of their Edinburgh opponents in the Celtic League.
With Edinburgh missing a host of internationals, Connacht were far too strong. Ahead at half-time by 17-7, they added a try within two minutes of the restart when John O'Sullivan's intercept sent Conor McPhillips through, and on the hour Shane Moore's straight burst from inside the 22 gave Connacht their bonus point.
Connacht got off to a great start when Darren Yapp carved open the home defence, stepped inside full back Hugo Southwell and cantered in from 35 metres.
Referee Owens awarded Edinburgh a penalty try on 10 minutes, ruling Tom Carter had tackled Conan Sharman without the ball. But some 15 minutes later Eric Elwood's midfield break allowed Yapp to burst through at pace and he found Matt Mostyn, who finished off in the right corner.
