Clarke slips out of world's top 100

Darren Clarke's miserable run of form in recent months has seen him fall outside the top 100 in the latest world rankings released this morning.

Clarke, who failed in his bid last week to qualify for the US Open before going on to miss the cut at the Austrian Open courtesy of a bogey on the final hole, has slipped from 94th to 106th.

Clarke began the year 35th, but has not played all four rounds of an event since early February following six missed cuts and a hamstring injury that forced him to withdraw from another two events.

Padraig Harrington, the only Irish challenger this week at in the season's second major, is now also the only Irishman ranked in the top 100, his missed cut at the St Jude Championship seeing him fall just one place to 11th.

Graeme McDowell is at 125th while Paul McGinley is down in 141st.
