DIGEST/SAILING: Light winds on Sligo Bay proved no obstacle as Ian Dobson and Andy Tunncliffe won the Fáilte Ireland GP14 World Championship with a race to spare yesterday, reports David Branigan.

There was sufficient pressure for the British pairing to storm into a 1,000-yard lead in the first race of the day. Another victory in the second race secured the championship.

Dobson and Tunnicliffe could invest in using the discard for the final race and sail home early with the Silver and Bronze fleets that did not sail a sixth race.

Sligo crews were best of the host nation, Paddy O'Connor with Tania McHale posting eighth overall and Niall Henry with Oisín Geraghty taking 10th.
