Errigal Ciarán 4-15 Mullahoran 1-7:CAVAN STILL have to break their duck in the Ulster club SFC title after 14-man Mullahoran went out of this year's competition with a whimper at Kingspan/Breffni Park.

The Tyrone champions were in the comfort zone for the entire second half and outscored their hosts by 2-9 to 0-4 in a whirlwind of attacking play. Mullahoran scored the first and last points of the game but in between times were outclassed by Errigal Ciarán who go on to meet Ballinderry (Derry) in the quarter-final.

However most talk after the match centred on the arrest of an Errigal Ciarán supporter at half-time and the dismissal (31 mins) of world handball champion Paul Brady just nine minutes after entering the fray.

Gardaí acted after abuse was directed at the Mullahoran players as they headed for the dressing-rooms at the interval whistle.

Brady received a straight red card after an off-the-ball incident which saw Tyrone man Stefan Tierney prostrated on the ground.

Thee visitors led by 2-6 to 1-3 at the interval. Damien McDermott’s early goal put Errigal into the box seat. Mullahoran’s Fergal Brady’s goal (16 minutes) cut the lead to two points only for Peter Harte to respond with a goal less than 90 seconds later. Mullahoran’s top scorer Enda OReilly cut the deficit to 1-5 to 2-7 but Errigal fired over three quick points before goals from Brian Horisk and Thomas Canavan sealed their easy win.
