Beaufort lift cup

WOMEN'S HOCKEY: Just four days after their senior team lost out to St Andrews in their Leinster cup final Loreto Beaufort won the junior cup at Grange Road yesterday, beating Alexandra College on penalty strokes after extra-time had failed to separate the teams.

Zara Delany gave Beaufort the lead midway through the first half from a penalty corner but Alexandra levelled through Nicola Evans from another corner 12 minutes from time.

There was no more scoring in extra time and the teams were still tied after the first round of penalty strokes, but Delany then converted her effort before Beaufort goalkeeper Sinéad Collins saved.
