Dublin SHC final/Ballyboden 0-9 UCD 1-13: Seventy years after their inaugural final win in the championship, UCD were back on the winner's rostrum at Parnell Park on Saturday. Managed by two-time All-Ireland winning manager Micheal Babs Keating, the students exposed the shortcomings of the St Enda's team, eight of whom featured for Dublin in this year's championship.

In the second half the UCD forwards were able to knock over points with some ease. UCD's all-Tipperary half-back line provided a suitable back-up for fellow county man Micheál Fitzgerald, who captained the side at corner back.

And they looked dangerous up front where Offaly forward Brendan Murphy, a late inclusion in this year's All Star team, led the line. But it was Redmond Barry, more known for his footballing exploits for Wexford, who earned the plaudits, scoring 1-5.

Barry was given a free rein in the latter stages. St Enda's had competed well in the early stages with Conal Keaney's driving point from midfield an example of their resolve. Having gained a 0-5 to 0-2 lead St Enda's were stunned by a Barry goal before the break. It left UCD ahead by 1-6 to 0-6 at the break.
